Laura's 30 Day EarMaster Sight-Singing Challenge
Yesterday I started a 30 day EarMaster Sight Singing Challenge. www.Earmaster.com is an ear training programme available for download online. My plan is to use the programme for 2 hours everyday over the 30 day period in the hope of improving my aural skills and, in particular, my sight-singing abilities. I shall concentrate on interval recognition and production, and rhythm reading. I have wished my sight-reading abilities were better for a long time, and although they are far from terrible, I'll be so thrilled if I can make a significant improvment to them in one month. I'll be posting my daily results here as well as some sound files of my sight-singing. Yesterday I reached lesson 21 in interval recognition, which is all diatonic intervals from any starting point; I had been doing pretty well so far, but this result was 69% and things are starting to get a lot harder for me. I seem to get confused with my 7ths and my octaves for some silly reason and really hope I get over that soon. In rhythm reading, I reached lesson 11 without having too much difficulty, but again, I am sure I will start to have more difficulties as the lesssons procede.
