As music teachers, we are always interested in new methods for teaching and learning music. In the next few weeks, we will be blogging about some of the great websites we have found, and new ones as we find them. The whole process of learning a musical instrument can be more fun and more efficient than it was not so long ago.
How many people have given up their chosen musical instrument because they felt they weren't getting anywhere? Perhaps they simply didn't want to be playing the music their teacher was making them play. How useful are some of the ear training programmes in quickly enabling an untrained ear to appreciate music more fully? How long will it be before everyone can get full marks in their ABRSM aural tests by using simple programmes with minimal effort? We plan on testing some of them on pupils and even on complete musical illiterates, and will be writing here about our findings.
To keep you going until our next post, here is a video we found on you tube, a perfect example of how technology is making totally amazing things possible in the musical world.
This video is of the world's largest virtual choir made up of 2052 performances from singers in 58 countries.
It is conducted by Eric Whitacre and they are performing his own composition, "Sleep".
Hope you enjoy!
